Core services

Engineering support that fits the project.

From process improvement consultancy and practical action plans to controls development and commissioning. Tempo can deliver a defined package, strengthen your engineering team, or take technical ownership from scope to handover.

PLC

Controls software & testing

Siemens and Beckhoff PLC development, HMI software and equipment interfaces. Structured code, useful diagnostics and functional testing before production handover.

RBT

Robotics & integration

Robot programming, cell integration, interfaces, safety and production-ready optimisation.

ENG

Project engineering & controls design

Early involvement in the scope, controls architecture and integration requirements. Technical coordination through development, testing and commissioning.

UPG

Upgrades & retrofits

Modernisation of ageing controls, obsolete hardware replacement and phased system improvements.

SUP

Fault finding & support

Remote and on-site support for complex automation faults, production issues and system recovery.

COM

Commissioning & handover

FAT, site commissioning, optimisation, documentation and a controlled handover into production.

Tempo Automation Systems

About Tempo

Direct access to experienced automation engineering.

Founded by Matt Phillips, Tempo Automation Systems provides independent PLC, robotics and controls engineering. Based in Peterborough, Tempo supports manufacturers and integration teams across the UK, on site and remotely.

You work directly with the engineer delivering the project—from understanding the requirements and developing the software to commissioning the equipment. The focus is practical: maintainable systems, clear diagnostics and a well-managed handover.

01
Built for production

Solutions are designed around maintainability, diagnostics and how the equipment will actually be used.

02
Ownership from scope to handover

Clear technical responsibility throughout development, integration, commissioning and sign-off.

03
Flexible support

Project packages, additional engineering capacity, commissioning support or ongoing technical agreements.

Process improvement consultancy

A practical plan.
Then the engineering to deliver it.

Understand what is holding production back and agree what to change. Tempo reviews the process, identifies improvement opportunities and develops a prioritised, actionable plan—with implementation available from the same engineer.

01 / Assess

Find the constraints

Review cycle times, bottlenecks, downtime, material flow and operator interaction. Establish a baseline and distinguish controls issues from wider process constraints.

02 / Plan

Make the next steps clear

A prioritised action plan covering proposed changes, expected benefits, indicative costs and effort, dependencies and delivery sequence. Separate quick improvements from longer-term investment.

03 / Implement

Put the plan into practice

Tempo can deliver the agreed controls, robotics and integration changes, coordinate other specialists where needed, and commission and review the results against agreed measures.

Available as a standalone assessment and plan, or with a separately agreed implementation package.
